The Quebec government on Wednesday announced it was adding $60 million to three renovation programs aimed at the province’s homeowners.
The Rénovation Québec (PRQ), RénoRégion (PRR) and Programme d’adaptation de domicile (PAD) of the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) will each receive $20 million over the course of the current fiscal year.
Quebec Housing Minister Andrée Laforest said the funding is a way to stimulate economic recovery in all regions.
Rénovation Québec is a supplement to financial aid provided by municipalities that allows owners of properties in poor condition to carry out renovations such as facade repairs or correcting defects that could affect the safety of residents.
RénoRégion supports owners with low or moderate incomes living in rural areas who want to correct major defects in their homes. The program applies to those living in municipalities in the Gaspésie—Îles-de-la-Madeleine region with fewer than 15,000 residents, and in municipalities with more than 15,000 residents that are not served by a water distribution or sewage system.
The Programme d’adaptation de domicile is aimed at owners with a significant and persistent disability that makes it difficult to accomplish daily tasks.
